Are you passionate about communicating through media? Can you tell stories through video, written articles, pictures, social feeds, etc? Would you like to use your skill set to tell university students how they can be used of God to impact South Asia? Are you a self-starter? Join the Migrating Media Monsters to bring to light work of fellow collegians as they push the envelope of lostness. At the same time, use your skills to share your own faith while traveling. Travel by plane, train, taxi, and buses across south Asia visiting students on their sites and develop resources that display God's work. The resources will need to come in the forms of videos, print media (stories, photographs, etc), social media feeds, and creative resources that reach university students and their mobilizers.
South Asian culture revolves on gender roles and dress is reflective of this. Life here is very relational and family centric. Be prepared for invitations into people's lives, including their home. Expect to share a meal with someone, but expect to work amongst your gender. Religion is also central to most South Asians. It is an easy topic so prepare yourself to make this part of every conversation.
South Asia contains various geographic contexts. From sea coast to the Himalya Mountains, be prepared for a third world country where development is not the primary goal. Most settings will be high levels of pollution. The mega cities and rural areas alike face this issue.
Most likely an adequately furnished apartment or guest house will serve as your home.
Severe, untreatable asthma is very much a concern here.
In ability to navigate through crowded cities for long hours. Standing on your feet and walking much of the day. Sever allergies or history of sever medical conditions must be confirmed with field for approval.
Equipment to Bring:
Equipment needed to capture video, photographs, and stories and then create media resources with those. We have limited resources on the most current equipment so we will need you to come with the tools you prefer. Bring a cotton sleep sack.
