You will research university campuses and ethnolinguistic groups to aid the Mexico City team in engaging unreached peoples and places. You will collect information conversationally or through surveys at markets, parks, coffee shops and other gathering places. You will serve alongside Mexican church planters and ministry leaders in various evangelism and discipleship activities that may include teaching English, prayer walking, VBS, etc. . You will serve alongside national believers in ministry to the “least of these”; such as orphans, prisoners, elderly and the poor.
Students should have an intermediate level of Spanish and be motivated to learn quickly.
You will receive orientation (May 28- June 1) and debrief (July 16 -19) from field personnel along with other students being sent to serve throughout the Americas. Orientation will be hosted near Memphis, TN.
Mexican culture is rich and colorful with a strong emphasis on family and community relationships. Along with many beautiful aspects of culture; the society has been tainted by generations of idolatry and witchcraft. Throughout this program, students will be intentionally studying and experiencing the Mexican culture.
Students will probably be housed together in an apartment complex near a major university campus.
Must be able to walk, climb stairs, keep up with other students, use public transportation and endure long days. Mexico city has poor air quality that could be problematic for people with respiratory conditions.
Equipment to Bring:
An unlocked smart phone or an international cell-phone package will be helpful, but not strictly required.
