Do you like tortillas? Does riding in a taxi with 10 others sound like a challenge you'd like to take on? Come join a team of missionaries in southern Mexico who are committed to bringing Light to the Dark places. You'll meet some incredible people, explore an ancient culture, eat some amazing food, and LIVE the Gospel. Your journey will be challenging but will impact eternity.
Oaxaca is a diverse culture with shopping malls and indigenous markets within walking distance from each other. The culture is warm and friendly. Dress is somewhat conservative and casual. Indigenous dress is common as villagers come to the city to conduct business. A clean, neat, and modest appearance will be needed to minister effectively in Oaxaca.
Southern Mexico is a wonderful place of mountains and valleys with over 15 indigenous language groups. The city of Oaxaca with an altitude of 5200 ft above sea level ensures an almost perfect climate with warm days and cool nights and low humidity. Known for its delicious food and welcoming culture, Oaxaca is a wonderful place for tourists. Mexicans will identify themselves as Catholic and most will never experience a personal relationship with Jesus unless someone shares the Gospel with them.
Dormitory style rooms with four single beds per room. Bath will be shared and is located at the end of the hall. No hot water. No air conditioning. No internet. No television.
Participants should be in good health. Some activities will require walking long distances.
Equipment to Bring:
Participants may be required to help bring in some supplies but there is no special equipment needed.
